America has dedicated the day November 6 to celebrate “Malaria Day”.
It aims to promote awareness, recognize past, and current efforts so as to prevent
and control malaria in the various parts of America. It is looking forward to build
commitment and to mobilize action to advance malaria goals. The aim of
celebrating this day is to work towards elimination of Malaria.
In America, around 120 million people are at risk of malaria across 21
endemic countries. It is been reported in 2012 that confirmed cases of the
condition were 469,000 and 108 were dead. On this day, campaigns call to
minimize these numbers. Everyone should be enlightened about measures to keep Malaria at bay.
People need to know about preventive measures and proper use of medications
like Aralen, which is manufactured by the trusted pharmaceutical
company, Sanofi Aventis US. It is composed of Chloroquine as the
main active ingredient. It kills the bacteria that cause the condition of
malaria, which is present in the red blood cells or liver.
In recent years, it seems that malaria could eventually be eradicated.
But Scientists have warned about “supermalaria” parasite. This parasite is
spreading rapidly across the globe, which is resistant to artemisinin, which is
the recommended first-line treatment for malaria. US government is planning to
cut off the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) funding that may affect the prevention
and treatment programs in the country.
Actions call off for the campaigning regarding awareness about Malaria
are deliberately for emphasizing the effectiveness of investments and improved
cooperation in the country. The resilience of key players among the private, public,
and community sectors must be improved. The aim must be to expand access and cover
uptake of malaria. This could be done with some preventive & control
measures while implementation of community resilience strategies.
The coverage of Malaria together is one of the best social
equalizers. To prevent the condition, scaling up the vaccination has the key
potential. It can save tens of thousands of children’s lives. The people should
be aware of the core package of WHO-recommended malaria prevention, diagnosis,
and treatment measures including Aralen pills.
